Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. Here are some answers to some of the most common ones, to help you feel more informed and comfortable.

  • In our first session, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you in and what you hope to get out of therapy. We’ll go over confidentiality, explore your background at a comfortable pace, and begin identifying your goals. You don’t need to prepare anything—just show up as you are. This time is about building safety and connection.

  • No, you don’t need a diagnosis to start therapy. People come to counseling for all sorts of reasons—stress, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, or simply wanting support. If a diagnosis is ever clinically appropriate or helpful, we can discuss that together.

  • Therapy looks different for everyone. Some clients feel better after a few months, while others choose to stay longer for deeper, ongoing growth. We’ll regularly check in to make sure therapy is still meeting your needs. Whether short-term or long-term, you get to decide what works best for you.

  • It’s completely okay to feel uncertain. Therapy is a personal experience, and part of our work together is exploring what feels supportive and meaningful to you. You’re welcome to schedule a free 30-minute consultation to see if it’s a good fit—there’s no pressure.
