Privacy & Diagnosis

Insurance requires a mental health diagnosis and certain clinical details in order to approve treatment. This means your information may not always remain completely confidential.

Not all clients who seek therapy will have a diagnosable mental health condition — and that should not limit your access to care. If your privacy and individualized therapy experience are important to you, private pay may be the better option.

As a licensed provider, I’m required to submit a diagnosis to bill insurance, which can sometimes limit the work we are able to do together and may impact future coverage.

For this reason, many clients choose private pay to maintain more privacy and flexibility in their treatment.
