Meet Jessica Leon, MA, LPC
Hi, I’m Jessica Leon—a Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly 20 years of experience helping women navigate anxiety, trauma, identity shifts, and the pressures of caregiving and perfectionism.
I founded Leon Counseling, PLLC, to offer a supportive, culturally responsive space for women in Arizona seeking therapy that meets them where they are. Whether you’re in your 20s questioning your path, in your 30s carrying invisible trauma, in your 40s balancing the weight of others’ needs, or in your 50s redefining yourself—you’re not alone. This is a place for your healing. I believe healing happens best when you feel safe and grounded, often within your own home, which is why my practice is fully virtual.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe therapy should be a space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal at your own pace. I also believe that mind–body healing is most effective when it takes place in an environment where you feel comfortable and at ease—often your own home. I integrate a range of evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches tailored to your unique story and goals.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
At the core of my work is EMDR, a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps you process and heal from past trauma, painful memories, or negative self-beliefs that may still be impacting you today. EMDR can be especially helpful if you feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, people-pleasing, or perfectionism—even when you “know better” but still feel overwhelmed.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
I use DBT to help you build practical skills for emotional regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and more effective communication—tools that are especially supportive for women balancing caregiving, work, and personal identity.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT allows us to explore and reframe thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, self-doubt, or shame. Together, we’ll identify beliefs that may no longer serve you and begin creating space for healthier, more empowering perspectives.
Mindfulness & Somatic Awareness
Grounding practices and gentle body-based techniques can help restore your connection to yourself, reduce stress, and support nervous system regulation. These practices are particularly useful for those who feel disconnected, anxious, or on edge.
Trauma-Informed, Culturally Responsive Care
I create a safe space where your full identity—cultural, racial, generational, and spiritual—is acknowledged and honored. As a bilingual Latina therapist, I understand the impact of intergenerational trauma, cultural expectations, and the complexities of navigating multiple identities. My approach centers your values, your pace, and your voice.
My Background
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the states of Arizona and Minnesota with nearly 20 years of experience providing therapy to individuals, families, and children. I earned my Master’s degree in Professional Counseling with a Specialty in Marriage, Family and Child Therapy from Ottawa University in 2006, and have since worked in a variety of settings including community agencies, schools, and multidisciplinary mental health teams.
I’ve completed advanced training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and am actively pursuing full EMDR certification. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based approaches. My practice is rooted in trauma-informed, culturally responsive care, with a special focus on supporting women navigating life transitions, anxiety, trauma, and identity challenges.
I bring a compassionate, down-to-earth approach to therapy, and I believe that healing happens when we feel heard, understood, and empowered. Today, I bring this experience into a fully virtual practice that allows clients to access thoughtful, trauma-informed care from the comfort of their own space.
